General Usage/Questions

How do I find restaurants?

There are several ways to locate specific restaurants or restaurants located in specific areas

.[Search Icon] You can get a listing of restaurants in an area by clicking on the "Search Around" icon in the top left corner of the map. Just supply an address (e.g., "10600 Main St., Bellevue, WA") and away you go. Alternatively, you can use the search tools that are displayed at the top of the page. Here you can do a broad search by entering just the city and state in the "Where" field, or look for a specific restaurant or type of restaurant by supplying the name in the "What" field.

Of course, these are just shortcuts. You can always browse around the map and zoom in on the area you're looking for.

How can I see other areas?

In addition to using the search functions, you can see other areas by navigating the map. To navigate the map, you can double-click on any perimeter location to have the map move in that direction. You can also click and drag the map in any direction to move the map in that direction. You can also zoom in or out on a particular area by using the 'Zoom level' function located on the left side of the map. For best results center the area you wish to zoom in on by clicking and dragging the map prior to clicking a zoom in level.

Can I search for certain types of food, such as Mexican or Italian?

This type of search is based upon a restaurant's "tags". A tag is a simple descriptive label that can be added onto any restaurant from the profile page and helps the search index discover what restaurants you want to find. To help make search results better, we encourage everybody to help populate tags for the restaurants they have been to.

Can I "save" certain restaurants to my profile?

This function is called "My Favorites" and you must be a registered member to utilize this function. Registration is free, and after completion of the registration process you can then click "Add as a favorite" on a restaurant profile page, and it will be saved.

How do I submit a review for a restaurant?

To submit a review you must be a registered user. If you are not registered and would like to be, please visit our User Registration Page. Once you are a registered user you can submit a review by accessing the restaurant's profile (click on the restaurant name from an information pop up window) and then click on the "Write a Review" link (towards the bottom of the page) if other reviews exist for the restaurant or the "Write the first!" link if no reviews exist for the restaurant yet.

I noticed information for a restaurant is not correct, how can I let you know?

You can submit corrected information for a restaurant by accessing the restaurant's profile (click on the restaurant name from an information pop up window) and then click on the "Information not correct? Have a picture? Send it to us!" link. Please note that to submit corrections you must be a registered user.

How do I submit a new restaurant?

To submit a restaurant please visit our Restaurant Submission Page, you can also submit a restaurant by clicking on the "Submit Restaurant" link located at the bottom part of a Search or Results page.

Technical Issues/Questions

Are cookies required and what information is kept in the cookie?

Cookies are not required to search for and receive results, however please note that if cookie function has been disabled by your browser (or use of 3rd party software) certain functions will not be supported, i.e. submitting reviews, posting comments, requesting corrected information for a restaurant, etc.

How can I view the toEat.com Privacy Policy?

Is JavaScript required to use toEat.com?

Yes, many of the functions used with the toEat.com service rely on JavaScript. If JavaScript has been disabled in your browser most pages will not load or not load correctly.

What browser does the toEat.com website support?

In order to fully experience toEat.com, we recommend Firefox or Safari. Internet Explorer version 5.0 and higher is also supported.

Does toEat.com support mobile devices, such as WAP enabled phones or PDAs?

Mobile Device support is currently under development, but unfortunately is not available at this time.

Membership and Account Questions

I've forgotten my login password, what should I do?

If you have forgotten your login password please follow the steps on the "Reset Password" process, from the Login Page. Please note the replacement password will ONLY be send to the email address provided during registration. If your email address has changed and you no longer have access to the old address we recommend you re-register.

How do I change my password?

On your profile page, at the header there is a link that says "Change Password".

Do I have to be a member to use toEat.com?

No, you do not have to be a registered member to use toEat.com services. Becoming a registered member allows you to posting reviews, update tags and, after becoming a long term user with quality reviews a user may become able to modify restaurants in their cities.

Is there a fee for becoming a member?

Becoming a registered member is easy, fast, and free. To become a registered member, please visit our Registration Page.

Can I see a menu for a particular restaurant?

Sponsored restaurants have the option of adding additional information to their listing, such on an on-line menu, hours of operation, etc. Since this option is dependant on the individual sponsored restaurant and what additional information they want to add some restaurants may offer it while others do not. If you have a particular restaurant you would like to see an on-line menu for, you may wish to make that request directly to the restaurant. In the future we have exciting plans that will unfold as an alternative to conventional advertisement, so please check back soon.
